Brain Gym Project

An corporate internal "training" session on strategy

Background

In 2017, I was selected by my previous company to be one out of the two talents sent for training to Spikes Asia: Festival of Creativity in Singapore. Being a young professional under thirty made me eligible to enroll in the festival’s Effectiveness Academy: a three day seminar on marketing effectiveness and brand measurements.

This brief yet enriching experience taught me to value evidence based marketing and how creative accountability should be practiced by everyone working in an agency.

Yet these are also the two frames of thinking that communication and creative professionals often find it hard to grasp, or forget to practice.

That is why upon my return from the conference and with the blessings of my supervisor, I spearheaded a series of internal knowledge sharing sessions called “brain gym”. The goal was to foster strategic thinking in young employees and promote cross department collaboration. For eight weeks, I created a training syllabus and took twenty of my peers across divisions on a guided discussion about industry related topics. Brain Gym taught me how to motivate others to integrate learning and self reflection in their daily routines.
